| Backrow: There are always two outsides on the court and you don't rotate out. The base for an outside is middle back. Your job is to cover the entire backrow, stay back for the overpasses/non-blocked hits, and cover backrow for setter. If you are in back or front row you want to have a good traisiton off to prepare to hit. Thesea re the main things to remember when transitioning off: Get out wide, Your hips should face the setter, follow the set with your left arm and strike with your right , and vise versa for left handed hitters.
Prepare for an inside or wide set. |
Frontrow: The base for an outside is left front. Your job is to block when right side hits on the opposing team, cover tips and short blocked hits on the right behind the block, and the main purpose to transition off and hit. To get a set you either call a go or 4. For serve/recieve you pull of and pass and then transition to the front row, and serve in rotaion 5 or 1, depending on whether you were put in front row or back row. |
